This week it was the turn of Northwood to get stuck in traffic as it took most of the team over two hours to get to Tooting. However it didn’t take any gloss of another excellent team performance to despatch high flying Tooting 2-0.
The Woods went in at half-time a goal to the good when the very impressive Jon Daily headed in at the far post after a six man passing movement ended with an excellent cross from debutant Daniel Jones.
Unfortunately within two minutes of the restart skipper Sam Phillips was adjudged by the referee to have fouled the opposing striker when they clashed heads and the red card came out, leaving the Woods to play on with ten men.
They continued to pressurise Tooting and were rewarded with another great goal from Daily who struck home, off the post from 25 yards. Tooting never looked likely to score due to some fine defensive work at the back, ably marshalled by the returning Max Moore.
A happy Mark Adams’ journey home was a lot better than the one going, after another very good team effort.
Man of the match: Jon Daily
Report: ALLAN GREEN.
